Here Is “How Much Money Was Split Amongst Athletes At The 2021 Mr. Olympia”

The 2021 Mr. Olympia Weekend in Orlando, FL, wrapped on Oct. 10, 2021, and saw many defending champions retain their Olympia titles. Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay went back-to-back as Mr. Olympia, as did Andrea Shaw as Ms. Olympia and Sarah Villegas in Women’s Physique. Cydney Gillon added a fifth win to her dynasty in the Figure Division, and Harold “King Kong” Kelley added a fourth in the Wheelchair Division. Chris Bumstead became the first-ever man to win the Classic Physique Olympia three times. Whitney Jones scored the third Olympia win of her career in the Fitness Division, as did Brandon Hendrickson in Men’s Physique. 

First-time champions were also abounding in Orlando. Derek Lunsford unseated the defending champion, Shaun Clarida, in the 212 Division. Francielle Mattos became the inaugural Wellness Division champion. Jennifer Dorie claimed the vacant title in the Bikini Division. Aside from elite physiques, all the divisions shared a piece of the largest Olympia prize pool in the contest’s history — $1.6 million. The prize purses were top-heavy in each division, with nearly half of the prize pool allocated to the Mr. Olympia division. Check out the full prize breakdown for each division below.

2021 Olympia Weekend

Bumstead, Elssbiay, Shaw, Villegas, and Hendrickson could claim that they cemented the start of potential dynasties in their respective divisions. Gillon’s is well underway, and give her physique in Orlando, could continue for many years to come.

The Fitness and 212 Divisions continue to volley back and forth, and no one has yet to assert dominance over the current crop of elite athletes, proving how close the divisions are. We will see in 2022 if the dynasties continue or if the slew of debut athletes at the Olympia in 2021 can capitalize on their newfound experience and claim the biggest title in the sport.
